You hear the phrase often, “the art of receiving,” and my blog today was going to be called that and then I thought about, why IS it an art form?

My answer to that question is this: most of us don’t truly know how to fully receive. That’s why it’s an art form.

  • A compliment
  • Grief
  • Support/Help
  • Experiences, that at first glance appear to be a “bad” thing
  • Even in seemingly “good” experiences, we’re chomping at the bit for the next high, the next level

And at the same time, we want to receive more love, money, more freedom, more happiness, more “good” things. We want to receive help; we want to receive somebody’s compliment fully.

We want to be accepting of all because that meets one of a human being’s basic needs: connection. We want to increase our income. Yet, we wonder why we haven’t. We don’t fully receive what we’ve been given–why would we be given more?

It’s okay to receive. It’s as necessary as giving. If you don’t have both interacting with each other, you stop the energy of flow and it creates a state of poverty–regardless of how much money you have in the bank.

If you’re a giver, raise your hand! And if you’re an over-giver, raise both hands!

  • What if your over-giving is really your fear of asking what you really need and actually receiving that need?
  • What if your over-giving is controlling the situation, and what if you allowed/received the situation?

A simple tool to use in learning to receive, (apparently, it’s an art form) is accepting the present moment as it is, and not trying to make it different.

Receiving is all about “accepting” (The 2nd Element in my 5 Elements of Financial Freedom program). And actually, a definition of accepting is “a consent to receive.”

I love Eckhart Tolle’s thoughts on this as well . . .

“Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. This will miraculously transform your whole life.”

So, repeat it with me, “I accept. I Accept. I ACCEPT.”

With this tool, you let go of the resistance and create the spaciousness to receive: an answer, a thought, an opportunity, an image, a feeling, or another way.

Sometimes we think we need a complicated cure. What if it was easy?

If you want simplicity in your life, choose simplicity.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, so email me at [email protected] and let me know what’s going on for you around receiving.

Here’s a simple practice to start to release resistance and embrace acceptance of what’s around money, finances, business, and life. Set the intention of acknowledging the old way of being–thanking it for what it did for you to this point–and transform it by saying, for example, “I’m now releasing anything and everything from my financial past that no longer serves me. I’m grateful for the ways it got me to where I am today, and I now set it, and me, free in love.”

“I’m ready to receive (fill in the blank) into my life for my greatest good, and highest purpose, with perfect divine timing, complete harmony, and with grace and ease. Thank you for this blessing.”

And so it is done.

Much abundance to you in all its forms.
