There are many forms of success. What being successful looks like for you will be unique and different from what another person might imagine. That’s one of the beauties of having a vision, wanting to create it, and doing whatever it takes to make it a reality. It will feel perfectly suited to you. So, no matter what your particular success story looks like, you’ll need these three keys for making it come true: Inspiration, Motivation, and Perspiration.

Inspiration

Spend time talking to people whose lives you want to be living.

Robin Sharma

Inspiration is wonderful. It can come in the form of words, images, and actions. One of the qualities of a great leader is that they naturally inspire. They possess an Inspiration Factor. Beyond merely providing a moment of pleasing thought and feeling, inspiration actually has the potential to change who you are. Because you’re limited only by your imagination, seeing life through a more powerful lens is one key to optimizing success in life.

The Inspiration Factor offers you a window through which you share, vicariously, the thoughts and feelings of the author, speaker, or artist. By trying on, for a time, the point of view of a leader, you begin to see yourself in a new way. These inspiring leaders act as mirrors in which you see your best possible self. As you spend time with these potent reflections, you begin to create a new story of who you are, the world in which you live, and your place in it.

Motivation

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing–that’s why we recommend it daily.

Zig Ziglar

There’s a difference between inspiration and motivation. The first one opens you up to possibilities and the second fuels your commitment to making them happen. Motivation arises from the meaning you’ve attached to your inspiration. What will get you out of bed, ready to launch into your day with zest and a limitless source of fuel?

This is where having a crystal clear understanding of what you value most comes in. It starts with identifying your core values. They’re the source of your Core Motivation. Then, spend time exploring what in your life nourishes these fundamental attributes. Think of them as beautiful crystals that only grow when given the optimum conditions. Because these values have a strong, although often unconscious, influence on your choices, becoming aware of what they are, where they came from, and why you have them is essential. This knowledge and understanding will make all the difference in whether and how you achieve success.

Perspiration

The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Vidal Sassoon

Inspiring people inspire precisely because they’ve gone somewhere we wish to go. They’ve attempted something new and challenged the status quo in a way that resonates with us. So, be inspired, definitely. Become clear on what motivates you, and remember that it doesn’t stop there. Take action, and by doing so, you’ll become the one to inspire others.

Without the first two keys, inspiration and motivation, your perspiration could end up exhausting and futile. When those two initial elements are clearly articulated and when you spend time with them on a daily basis, your efforts will be worthwhile and energizing. In this case, perspiration isn’t about blindly pouring out everything you’ve got until there’s nothing left. It will feel more like that awesome yoga class you attended where you felt the work happening and by the end were emptied and recharged at the same time. As a result, it becomes Meaningful Perspiration. Therefore, if your desire is to experience the most fulfilling success possible, keep this equation in mind.

Inspiration Factor + Core Motivation + Meaningful Perspiration = Fulfilling Success

It’s possible to uncover, clarify, and collect these three keys in a variety of ways. One way to supercharge your process is to work with a qualified coach who employs proven strategies for success. Having an unconditionally supportive coach who believes in you, empowers you, and celebrates you makes all the difference.
