“Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn’t.”

Lead Yourself to a Healthier Lifestyle

Let’s admit it, we know that we have changes we’d like to make to our lifestyles to become healthier. And there are lots of diets, exercise regimens, health clubs, and experts ready to give us advice. But there isn’t a magic bullet and we know the answers.

Or do we?

You’re Not Insane–Are You?

The definition of insanity’s doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Want to change? First examine the “why” behind your actions and then work on the thoughts that get in your way.

Are you really just too tired after work to go to spin class, or are you also angry at a coworker who pushes your buttons? Examine what things are draining your energy.

What makes you run for the kitchen or plop onto the couch as soon as you get home? Is it really hunger, fatigue or something else? What’s happening and why? If you can get to the bottom of this, you’re well on your way to bold, permanent change.

Envision how you feel when you’ve made those positive changes. New clothes? A trip? New energy? This will lead you directly into better actions. Once you see the results, you’ll have better habits and a new reality. Paint yourself a picture of your goal to cement your intention.

Build Yourself a Plan

Next: build a plan. Ask yourself, “where are my most weak moments? What can I do to find a substitute that doesn’t feel like I’m depriving myself? How can I motivate myself to get to the gym? Or get up earlier to walk before work?”

Keep a journal for a week and capture everything you eat, or your moods before and after you exercise or choose not to. Use paper, a tool like MyFitnessPal or your Apple Watch, or make a daily story on Instagram to share with your fans. Whatever works for you. Especially note the why of your successes and of your slips into old behavior.

Lead here, too. How can the company become healthier? How can you lead the charge? Can you involve others? Raising your organization’s motivation and energy to become healthier will have widespread impact on your business.

You Can Do It

You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish. Celebrate your success–miracles are around the corner!
