An Introduction to an Extraordinary Life

My name is Lisa Ann Carr. I am the proud owner of InSight 2 Potential Executive Leadership Coaching.  I come to this position with master coach training from iPEC, 20 years in educational leadership, and curriculum programming for the first positive education academy in Canada. I hold a Master in Education Administration Degree and specific certification in Special Education and Mental Health First Aid. I have taught post-secondary business, marketing, and human resources courses in both Canada and China. I love reading, baseball, and spending time with my family. My greatest pride is my son 11-year-old son, Matthew.

The Long and Winding Journey

I would love to tell you that as I was growing up, all I ever wanted to be a was a professional coach. But, like some, my journey in life has not followed a straight and smooth path. Prior to becoming an Executive Leadership Coach, I spent 20 fantastic years in education. I absolutely loved it. In fact, that’s all I ever wanted to do. I started out as a teacher, moved on to vice-principal, then to principal, and was primed and ready for a promotion to a superintendent of education.

What I didn’t realize was that leadership came with a serious price. Don’t get me wrong. The pay was great and I loved my job, but, each day I was faced with many different challenges, from varying groups of people: parents, students, teachers, unions, and superintendents. The expectations placed on me, the leader of many staff, students, and families, continued to pile every year. The pressure for student enrollment and academic performance was relentless. And yet, I gave my heart, soul, time, and attention to my career. Why? Because I wanted to make a difference.

Alone on a Road Full of Travelers

Except….Have you ever been constantly surrounded by people yet felt completely alone?

Have you gone out of your way to please as many people as possible yet never seemed to please anyone at all?

When is the last time you went to the job you love and felt completely in your own skin–appreciated, valued, and praised?

Have many times have you had to make tough decisions and knew, even though it was the right decision, that you were hurting someone?

I can answer each of those questions and confidently say I felt completely alone. I couldn’t please anyone. I was constantly criticized and felt under-appreciated. And, I had to make decisions that made my stomach turn.

So, do you know what I did?

I quit!! 20 years in education…and I left.

Follow the Exit Signs

The effects of my career had taken a serious toll on my physical health, my social life, and sadly my family. It was absolutely the most challenging time in my life. I didn’t know what I was going to do or how I was going to get my life back on track.

And then I found coaching! (Or did it find me?)

Either way, coaching saved my life. What I didn’t know was that with powerful questions, a firm but caring coach, and an excellent plan of action, my life would completely change. You see, my problem was not my leadership skills. I was really good at what I did and I loved my job. What I needed help with was learning how to deal with the highs and lows, the failed projects, the criticism, the long hours, stress and fatigue, and the balance of family and work.

With skilled coaching, I am proud to say that I am happier than I have ever been. I own a very successful coaching practice. I get to continue my leadership journey in a new and more powerful way. I now have time to spend with friends and family. I have time for myself, and most importantly, I have time to spend with my son on the ball diamond. Everything I thought was absolutely impossible to have is now completely possible!

How Do I Know You Can Have All of This and Much More for Your Life?

I know because this is my passion. I have the skills and the drive to hold you accountable until you achieve your greatest success! With fresh insight, clarity, and support, you really can step into your full potential. I wonder where will your journey lead you?
